The Birmingham Black International Film Festival (BIF Festival) is a Film Festival with a difference, incorporating music, live arts and education while providing platforms for filmmakers and art creatives to exhibit their talents. Estabished in 2006 The festival, is a one week infusion of industry parties, showcases, networking events, educational seminars and screenings as well as the star studded “MViSAs” Movie Video and Screen Awards. The Festival also host a Virtual Festval that runs alongside the tradition festival Bif Digital where you can enjoy the festival from the comfort of your home. This Festival is unique as it is the only event of its kind in the UK. Over the last decade the festival has grown into a well know established event in the city’s social calendar which continues to attract celebrities and individuals from across the UK and the world. The Birmingham Black International Film Festival makes use of centrally located venues around the city, for ease of access. Most venues are situated within walking distance of New street train station or a short cab ride away. Apart from being perfectly located for accessibility, there is a selection of hotel accommodation to suit everyone's taste, from 5 star to bed and breakfast. So why not stay at one of our partner hotels and receive up to 40% off accommodation. Whilst you are here why not take advantage of the city's diverse culture from great restaurants to historical monuments. Birmingham is indeed a beautiful city so come visit us at our festival and enjoy our City.
Each year we make every effort to keep the festival as exciting and interesting as possible. Apart from screening some of the best independent films we host a number of other events which include networking evenings, workshops, seminars and showcases. Last year we engaged with the Rudolph Walker foundation to extend his inter-school drama programme into Birmingham, which will start this year. We will be relaunching our Film and Entertainment Seminar (FES) which will include individuals from the Film, Music and Entertainment industry. There will be the usual core events such as the MViSA Awards and premiere evenings. Please see our events page for full listing
